I Just Can’t…

I generally want to give everything a fair shake. But when I heard the concept for this movie, I just couldn’t. I just fucking can’t.

Okay, from that poster. You would think that this is about New Year’s Eve? That maybe she’s only in town for that one night and will fly out tomorrow. That she was on a bad date and she just so happens to see this handsome pizza shop employee/owner and he closes early and the two of them have a wonderful night. She then has to decide if she wants to get on a plane or risk it all and stay with him.

Boom, concise somewhat boiler plate plot that’s serviceable at the end of the day. A verse-chorus-verse song. Nothing out of the ordinary. No frills. Rely on the hotness of the leads to get you through it.

That’s not what it’s about. What it’s actually about, is that unmarried people are not allowed to have sex. Except for one night out of the year. Twelve hours.

THAT IS LITERALLY THE DUMBEST FUCKING CONCEPT

Sorry for yelling but it’s just stupid on so many levels. Do you know the amount of police you would need for that? Also, there would be fucking riots in the street and the politicians that allowed this would find themselves not only out of jobs but run out of town. That’s fascism on a level that I’ve never even heard about before.

Why is it called One Night Only? Was “The Purge(But for Consenual Sex)” taken? It’s so fucking stupid. Queer people had to deal with this before the stonewall riots and probably after it. But that’s the thing, this would never stand because of two simple reasons:

  1. Straight people hate it when you take things away from them. Marriage? That wasn’t even taken away from them, it just stopped being an exclusive club and they lost their fucking minds! Gay marriage does nothing to straight marriage. It’s just an addition to it but we have to make such a huge fucking deal about it.
  2. This takes away rights from men. It’s always been said if men got pregnant you could get an abortion on every street corner. They would not abide this. No one would abide this.

If a political party was able to do this, they would have to be the most dictatorial and powerful organization on the planet. Maybe this is brought up in the movie but I refuse to watch it. From the reviews, this is never addressed.

At least with Looper’s dumb concept they were willing to explain it a little bit. Same thing with that Justin Timberlake(he can go fuck himself) movie “In Time”.

It’s just so stupid.
