The Boys in the Lab Finally Cracked Brussel Sprouts

For those that don’t know, when I was younger, I was a picky eater. I didn’t like much more than hamburgers and fries and other foods like that. Vegetables were an immediate no go. Family members have said that maybe it was the mouth feel that I couldn’t get behind. That’s still a problem for me with broccoli besides all the other issues with broccoli.

I have been trying to expand my pallet to becoming something of a foodie. Not one of those assholes that needs to eat like lion or anything like that. Just a man who can eat most things. To that end, I’ve been trying to find a way to eat various foods that so that I would find them palatable.

At a family dinner recently I had wonderful roasted brussel sprouts. They were store bought but I figured that that was the way to do it.

If you’d like to make them the same as I did, I used this recipe: https://www.loveandlemons.com/roasted-brussels-sprouts/

However, the only thing that I took away from it was the cooking technique. The seasoning was all my own. It was cumin, roasted red pepper flakes, cayenne powder and (insert spice I forgot). The spices really made it.

Maybe this was always the key. I’ve always loved the way vegetables have been prepared when I eat Indian food. This might be how I crack broccoli for myself. I’ll get back to you on it.
